Belgian horticulture company Microflor and the German Hark/Sion partnership officially inaugurated Labeau (Microflor Biyoteknoloji ve Tarım Sanayi A.Ş.) in the Çanakkale Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ). As the sixth laboratory within the Labeau network, the facility is set to become the largest in the group, with an annual production capacity of 25 to 30 million Phalaenopsis orchid plants.
The state-of-the-art laboratory is the result of a project launched by Microflor Biyoteknoloji ve Tarım Sanayi A.Ş. in 2021 and further expanded following the establishment of Labeau in 2025. The new facility will support advanced research, breeding, and propagation activities, strengthening Labeau's position as a leading global provider of high-quality plant genetics and solutions for growers worldwide.
With the addition of the Çanakkale laboratory, Türkiye becomes the sixth location in Labeau's global orchid tissue culture network. Alongside facilities in Germany, Belgium, the United States, and Slovakia, the new investment not only provides additional production capacity but also reinforces Türkiye's role as a strategic production and trade hub.
The opening ceremony brought together international partners, regional stakeholders, suppliers, customers, and representatives of the horticulture industry. Guests attended the official ribbon-cutting ceremony, toured the laboratory, and listened to remarks from company representatives and invited guests before joining a networking reception with regional partners and stakeholders.
